I love the Art Nouveau movement. I have always admired the artists who created posters and paintings in this style.
I got this great paper donated from my artist friend’s friend. It’s for my art classes of course, but I don’t think a few pieces will by missed. I started searching for some compositions for inspiration and I found an artist name Elizabeth Sorel. She painted lots of illustrative subjects with the line and color
Once I had the drawing complete I needed to decide on the medium I would be using. The paper is colored yellow and is heavy card stock. I wasn’t sure how it would hold up with paint so I decided to use wax pastels. They are kind of like oil pastels but you can mix them with water. I haven’t tried that yet. I got them from Michael’s. They are inexpensive (19.00) I have a video of my progress today.
I hope to post an update on Thursday.
Here is an update. I used some dark blue acrylic to add dramatic contrast. I think it is taking on a fairy tale like appearance. She is almost finished!
These are the wax pastels I am using.
